Channel Provisioning and Flow Scheduling in Grid Overlay Networks

چکیده
Grid traffic characteristics are quite different from that of normal Internet traffic, as they impose more stringent constraints (such as packet delay and flow deadlines) on network resources. This paper explores differentiated channel provisioning in grid network, in order to schedule bulk data traffic. We propose a solution based on the two-phase routing scheme to provision the virtual channels, such that it will satisfy any valid traffic matrix. Then we detail a simple, online, preemptive algorithm for scheduling bulk data traffic.

Quality of Service Provisioning in Wireless Networks
Wireless scheduling plays an important role in the design of advanced wireless networks as it determines the QoS provisioning over the wireless link. Compared to its wired counterpart, the design of wireless schedulers is a much harder and challenging problem due to the unique characteristics of the wireless channel. While recent work focused on the design of wireless schedulers to meet a given...
متن کاملAutonomic Workflow Management System for Grid Computing
As many of the large-scale scientific applications executed on Grids are expressed as complex scientific workflows, workflow management has emerged as one of the most important Grid services in past few years. Scientific workflows can be defined as the aggregation of Grid application services, which are executed on distributed Grid resources in a well defined order to satisfy the specific requi...
متن کاملA Packet Scheduling Approach to QoS Support in Multihop Wireless Networks
Providing packet-level quality of service (QoS) is critical to support both rate-sensitive and delay-sensitive applications in the bandwidth-constrained, shared-channel, multihop wireless networks. Packet scheduling has been a very popular paradigm to ensure minimum throughput and bounded delay access for packet flows. This work describes a packet scheduling approach to QoS provisioning in mult...
متن کاملQoS Provisioning in Wireless Networks
The importance of mobile connectivity along with the popularity of the Internet is fueling the demand for wireless networks to bring diverse applications from the wired network to mobile users. This poses a challenge for wireless networks to provide different, but yet consistent and predictable, grades of Quality of Service (QoS) over the wireless media. Wireless scheduling determines how effic...
متن کاملA Chord-based Architecture for Efficient Dynamic Service Provisioning over Distributed Resources
The demand for distributed applications has been increasing since the birth of internet. It has scaled geographical areas in search of information and computational resources for processing. With the advent of Grid computing, ad-hoc Virtual Organizations have added an impetus towards distributed applications by providing on-demand service provisioning. The use of job-based paradigms and strong ...
